Miners’ Colfax Medical center is a state-owned and licensed facility. It operates:
Long Term Care
Our Long Term Care facility, located at 900 South Sixth Street in Raton, New Mexico, specializes in the care of occupationally injured or ill miners is licensed for 49 beds and provides intermediate and residential / sheltered care.
Acute Care Hospital
Our Acute Care Hospital, located at 203 Hospital Dr. in Raton, New Mexico, is licensed for 25 beds. It consists of a medical-surgical unit, an Intensive Care Unit, an Obstetrics Unit, 2 Operating Rooms, and a 24 hour Emergency Room service. Outpatient diagnostics and specialty care clinics are also available.
Miners’ Outreach Clinic
An Outreach Clinic Program that consists of a mobile van housing a pulmonary lab, radiology room, audiometry booth, and general respiratory equipment. This traveling unit is a semi-tractor trailer which is taken to all mining communities in New Mexico and Southern Colorado for the purpose of screening miners for Black Lung disease or other mining related illnesses or injuries. It provides this service specifically to miners that cannot conveniently travel for screening to Raton. Chest X-Rays, hearing and lung function tests, and cardiovascular and blood gas tests are conducted and followed-up with an exam by a pulmonologist.
